Course Overview
Understanding the condition of your rainforest site is the first step towards making positive management decisions. This course will help you to understand the main management issues for temperate rainforest in the UK, as well as understand why it is such an important habitat for lichens and bryophytes. You will learn how to carry out a Rapid Rainforest Assessment and understand what it will tell you about the condition of your site.
The course will cover:
- What temperate rainforest is, why it’s an important habitat and the threats it faces
- Habitat features associated with temperate rainforest and their significance
- How to recognise indicator species/ communities of lichens
- How to carry out a Rapid Rainforest Assessment
- What the results will tell you about the condition of your site
